We had so much fun on our little photo shoot. We laughed a lot and Ben was such a good trooper. He loved wearing a suit and tie for the first time. He’s such a handsome boy. My favorite part about taking these pics with him is it was one on one time with just him and I. A special memory I won’t forget.

Family Photo Shoot

January 18, 2016

I have been waiting for years to hire a professional photographer to take our family pictures. I wanted to make sure the kids would cooperate before I took the chance. This year was looking promising, so I took the chance. The session didn’t go as smoothly as planned. The big kid ended up giving us the most problems when usually it’s the younger two. But, the end result was good. Linz Hester Photography did a great job. Here are a few of my favorites.

Miss Sass

September 30, 2014

Life has been so crazy the last few months. So far this year I have only used my good camera ONCE to take pictures of the kids. I was itching to get that black box back in my hands so I took Jilly out the other day for a quick 10 minutes. It’s hard to get the attention of a 3 year old by yourself with the camera in front of your face, but I got some cute keepers and it sure felt good to be clicking away.

My favorite is this first one. I told her to pose for me. Hands on hips, smiles on lips… this is what I got. So much sass. I love the big personality this little girl has.

First Communion Pictures

April 13, 2014

Owen will receive his First Communion in a few weeks. In preparation for the big day I wanted to take pictures of him in his suit. The church is having someone take photos, but I didn’t want “studio” pics so I decided to do them myself. I’m still a little rusty with my better camera since I haven’t used it much and after tonight I can tell my favorite lens is in dire need of a tune up. I’m no professional but I got some keepers.

Owen was such a trooper. It was 87 degrees out and he willing put on a suit, jacket and all, for his mom to take pictures. There isn’t much greenery in these neck of the woods yet so I took most of these by the church we attend. He’s so handsome… although I should have gotten his hair cut. I may take him out for another round of pictures in May once we have more trees and flowers in bloom.

Fall Photos – Take 1

September 15, 2013

I like to try and take the kids photos in the fall once or twice. I took them out today for round 1. Usually we go to a local park, but today I decided to do something different and take them to the Capital Complex. That way they could walk around and I could take pictures when they were willing. For the most part, it worked out well. They boys were super cooperative. It was wonderful. They even had ideas for picture poses. Jillian was not so easy. It’s the age. But I got a few of the three of them together that I love. The one wasn’t in the most ideal spot with door being in the back left, but they thought it was a neat place to sit so I snapped away while they were willing subjects. Hopefully in a year or two it will be a piece of cake since all the kids will be able to take direction.

It’s neat to think 10 years ago Mike and I were having our wedding photos taken there and now I’m taking pictures of our beautiful children.

1 1/2 Years pics

April 22, 2013

Guess what… I’m behind again this Spring. Shocking, right. =) Just too much going on. At least I’m making an honest attempt to play catch up. And this weekend I decided to tackle another item that was collecting dust on my to do list – Taking Jillian’s 18 month pics. I got them in 1.5 weeks shy of 20 months. Opps.

We are only in the house for a few more weeks so I wanted to have one last photo shoot in the light I have come to know and understand over my years here. I haven’t taken Jillian’s pics since September, and man has she changed since then. Back then she loved the seamless backdrop paper. This time when I put her on it she’d scurry away. When I asked her to walk on it, she’d say “No” in her little mousy voice. I finally got the bathroom stool and she sat on it.

The beginning of our session started like this:

Eventually I got the squeeze packet out of her mouth. I was able to get some semi smiles out of her:

Then she refused to get back on the paper and would only stand against the wall. At least her daddy got her to smile and then burst into her Jilly laugh/squeal.

But Michael got her back on the paper, and some how made her laugh and she looked up at me with the sweetest smile and I got THIS! LOVE!!

At the end of the shoot, she ended her hate for the seamless paper and fell in love when I let her color on the wrinkled end part I cut off.

It wasn’t my worst time taking pics of my kids, but she made me work for what little keepers I did get. At least I was able to catch her expressions that I love which is the main reason I like to do this. I love my sweet baby girl!!

Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2012

It’s Christmas Eve and the whole fam has been pushing through a cold for the past few days, especially Mike, Jillian and I. I’m hoping it’s gone by tomorrow. It’s not fun being under the weather at Christmas.

And because I know tomorrow will be a busy day, here is our 2012 Holiday Card. I designed our card this year and went with the ever popular chalkboard theme in a 5×5 square on linen cardstock. I love how they turned out and that all of us, even Maxie, are on the card this year.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and really enjoys their time with family.

Double Dose of Handsome

October 18, 2012

And not only did I get a cute pic of Jillian, I also got some keepers of the boys. I love this photo shoot and that the kids cooperated. I even got one of all 3 kids, but I think I might save it for Christmas cards. It’s a miracle. =)

Aren’t these boys beautiful. I’m one lucky mama.

9 Month Portraits

July 2, 2012

I seized the opportunity of being at the beach to take Jillian’s 9 Month Portraits. I still struggle with reading light, so I didn’t get many good pics by the water, but I don’t know if I’d have success anyway if I was a better judge of light b/c all she wanted to do was watch the waves. It was almost impossible to get her took look at the camera once we moved over the sand dunes and she saw the ocean. But I love the expressions I was able to capture by the dunes and the one of her with her feet in the water and me holding her hands makes me giggle. I love Jillian’s puffy cheek pout and I’m happy I was able to finally catch it on camera.

6 Month Portraits

March 25, 2012

Last weekend I got all my photo stuff set up and started to take Jillian’s 6 month pictures. She did so well. I was going to take a second round with some different outfits and a different background, but when I just sat down this morning to edit the ones I took, there are so many I love, it’s not worth it. I’ll just wait and do another photo shoot in a few weeks.

I love taking this little girls picture. She makes it so easy. I just hope she continues her love for my camera because she’s an amazing subject to photograph. Here are my favorites so far. I know I will probably have more to post when I get through the rest.
