This week is the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. My father-in-law is a big civil war buff, so today he and Mike took the boys to see some of the sites for the reinactment and celebration. He took these pics of the boys, who enjoyed their day and learned a lot of new things.

Owen’s been obsessed with a few things lately… US Presidents, the 50 States, and golf. As a special treat for finishing 1st grade, the day after the last day of school, Mike took Owen to play his first 9 holes on a real golf course. Not a driving range. To say he was giddy would have been an understatement. Can’t you tell he’s so proud to finally play real golf with his Dad! Mike sad he did really well, except at the one putting green with the Pro standing right there he decided to hit his putter hard against the green several times like he does his baseball bat against home plate before he’s ready to bat. I think Mike and the pro about had a heart attack. He fixed his divot and carried on. We need a few more lessons on the rules of golf.

Memorial Day weekend, we had a family celebration at Harvey’s Lake for Grammy Thomas’ 60th birthday. Bill, Sara and the girls even came from Indiana. It’s not often all 12 of us are together, so we took advantage of the photo opportunity.
