Trick or Treat 2011

October 30, 2011

For the first time since we’ve taken our kids Trick or Treating it was FREEZING! It was raining all day on Thursday, but luckily the rain ended around 5 so we didn’t have to go out with umbrellas.

We decided to put Jillian in her kitty costume and take her out in the stoller all bundled up for the festivites. She wasn’t awake for long and slept through all the excitment. Her brothers on the other hand were loving life. The just love Trick or Treating. In fact the one house we went to told Benny he was the the most cheerful Trick or Treater she’s every had!! Mimi and Pop Pop went along too and they really enjoyed seeing the boys have so much fun.

It gets dark really early so I didn’t have a chancce to get a lot of pictures, but I did let the boys get dressed up last weekend and took some pictures of them in the back yard. I just love these costumes, esecially Benny’s. I think this year was my most favorite yet.

My Super Heroes and their little Kitty

Meow! My 1st Halloween! My costume is a little big, but mommy says I still look as cute as ever!

Time to head on out!

All bundled up to go Trick-or-Treating with my brothers

Hitting up the first house.

Our neighors up the street went all out. Owen was afraid at first, but Benny had no fear. He walked up, rang the bell and said, “Can I have candy please?”

The best Captain America I’ve ever seen!!

It’s Wolverine!

Super Hero Brothers!!

2 Month / 8 Week Check Up

October 26, 2011

Jilly turned 8 weeks old yesterday. It has been a long 8 weeks actually. We have been trying to figure out what was really making her fussy 24/7 and in pain. Over the past several days I’m happy to say that it looks like the puzzle is solved. We found the right pieces that fit together to give our baby girl comfort and releave her pain. We didn’t know if it was a formula issue, colic, or reflux that was the root cause. Turns out it’s the reflux (and maybe a little bit of an issue with formula). Once we put her on Good Start Soy and Prevacid it was like we had a new baby. Seriously.

We could finally put her down in her chair for more than 60 seconds w/o her screaming. The looks of pain that would come across her face shortly after eating or when she got the hicups were gone, and she could finally sleep peacefully. In fact, ever since Sunday night she’s been sleeping from 10:30 to 5:30/6:00!!

I knew there was a happy baby inside of her waiting to come out. It’s such a relief as a parent to see my child content and know that we now have the right tools to keep her that way. Thank goodness!! Now we can really start to enjoy her and not worry about her anymore.

She went back to the Dr. today for her 2 month check-up. She’s doing great.

Here are her stats:

Weight: 11lbs 8oz (74th percentile)
Height: 22 1/2 inches (62nd percentile)
Head: 15.5 cm (49th percentile)

Jilly is more close to Owen’s size than she is to what Benny was. Benny was a monster of a huge child! It will be interesting to see if she continues to be just like Owen since she’s been very much like him as a baby so far.

Note: I still do cloth diaper, but she has a disposable on in these picture b/c they are lighter so they give a more true weight when being weighed.

Child of 1000 Faces

October 24, 2011

Like I said before, Jillian is the baby of 1000 faces. Whenever you look at her she’ll flash you a bunch of cute faces and some random ones too. Here are some I caught the other day. I love that everyday I get more and more smiles. She so knows who I am and the sound of my voice so Mama gets lots of love via beautiful baby girl smiles.

Paulis Farms

October 20, 2011

We continued our Columbus Day tradition by doing a fun family fall outing and headed to Paulis Farms. The kids have so much fun there. We didn’t do the corn maze this year, but the boys had fun on the slides, playing in the corn sandboxes and seeing the animals. I look forward to this day off work every year.

WOW!

That was fun, mom!

Race down the slide to see who wins!

I’m a baby wearing mama…she slept the whole time.

Having fun with our buddy, Ian, who we ran into at the farm.

The rest of the story…

October 10, 2011

Besides Owen riding his first real roller coaster, the whole family had a very nice time at Knobels yesterday with Grammy and Pee Paw Thomas.

Benny hanging out with Grammy at lunch.

Pee Paw is daring and lets Benny behind the wheel.

Jillian is happy for her first trip to Knoebels outside of Mommy’s belly.

Owen was thrilled that I wasn’t pregnant like last time we were at Knobels and that I could now ride rides with him.

Jilly Bean and her Grammy T.

Benny being silly on the kids whip tring to impress the little girl he’s sitting with. He’s such a flirt. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He’s such a little Mike.

Bumper Car Time!

O’s getting his game face ready.

There goes Benny!

Benny rolling on the hand trains. Owen was so bummed… this is one of his favorite rides and he’s now too tall to ride it.

That slide was fun!

Mommy and her girl.

Mommy and her mini-me’s… Owen and Jilly look like Mommy, that is for sure. Especially Jillian.

Benny rode this ride like 4 times. It’s one of his favorites.

Jilly on her first ride… the train.

The screaming in the tunnel woke her up.

Good thing it woke her up. Once she was awake, she was able to take in the scenery of the train ride.

Phoenix

October 9, 2011

We had one last hurrah today at Knoebels. What a beautiful day to spend there too. Not too warm, not too cold, a slight breeze in the air, and the beautiful colors of the fall foliage to take in.

I took lots of pictures, but I wanted to make sure at least this milestone hit the blog… Owen rode his first REAL roller coaster today – the Phoenix. And not only did he ride a big roller coaster, he sat right in the front! Mike has been waiting for this for a long time. Owen was eager to ride it, but afterwards he said it was “crazy” and he didn’t think he’d ride it again. I’m surprised he didn’t cry. It’s a pretty steep drop. More power too the little dude – I won’t even ride roller coasters. I’ll be curious to see if he wants to ride it next year when we go back.

YEAH – I’m tall enough to ride the Phoenix!

Tickets are ready – let’s go Dad!

Here they go! No turning back now!

Owen & Daddy after their first roller coaster ride together. Even though he said he wasn’t a fan, from the look on O’s face I think we’ll see him on a roller coaster again.

PS – and just in case you didn’t already know… Little Sisters Rock. I know Owen and Benny think so!

Fall Field Trip

October 8, 2011

It was time for the child care center’s fall field trip to the pumpkin patch. Since I was home on leave, I met the class there and Jillian and I tagged along with Benny and his buddies for some fun.

It was a beautiful morning… just a slight chill in the air and warm sunshine. Benny had a blast and was such a good boy. It was nice to spend some time with him. I miss seeing him during the day. When I was working, I’d stop down once or twice a day to get my Benny fix. Having the kids in the daycare at work is wonderful. At least when I go back to work at the end of the month it will be comforting to know my kids will be just a short elevator ride away.

Jillian all ready for her trip to the pumpkin patch.

Benny and his buddy, Ian, playing in the Childrens Garden.

WEEEE… down the hay slide.

Getting ready to jump in off the big stack of hay into the hay pile below.

There goes Benny! No fear.

Swinging on the tire horse.

Benny and his friend, Nathan, taking the opportunity for a photo op.

Makes you wonder what kinds of conversations 3 year old little boys have.

Benny and his baby sister.

Guess what… I took a lot of pictures since Jillian’s been born =) !! Surprised? Just kidding! Actually, before she was born, I hadn’t picked up my camera that much for random shots of life around the house. Now it’s getting a work out. Most of the pictures are just cute snap shots that I didn’t get to share on the blog yet. I know this is going to probably happen a lot over Jillian’s first year, so I’m going to try and do a “Snap Shot” post each month with some of my favorite pictures from the previous month.

So, here are my picks from September.

Benny has a new BFF.

Jillian after her first sponge bath at home.

Pretty girl taking a snooze.

Owen holding her for the first time.

Jilly’s big brothers LOVE her.

Hanging out in her crib… her jammies almost blend into the crib sheet.

Owen wanted to hold his baby sister before bed. Excuse his crazy jammies… he loves to wear the tie-dye he made at summer camp with his new EP Panther PJ pants that we got for him from K orientation.

We laid Jillian on a blanket in the living room in a diaper to try and wake her up since she sleeps all the time. Maxie came right over to lay next to her. God bless this dog. She loves her siblings and she’s very much more into Jilly than she was the boys.

Chilling on her changing table.

Catching some sun by the back door.

Surprise! I’m awake!

I love to cuddle with my blankies.

Sweet smiling dreams while napping in my crib.

Strike a pose

October 6, 2011

The boys went back and forth on what they wanted to be for Halloween. First it was Mario & Toad, then Mario and Luigi, the Mario and Sonic. Then all the sudden they changed their minds to Wolverine and Captain America. Their costumes came in the mail yesterday and to say the boys were excited is an understatement.

I was out shopping with Jillian and when I pulled into the driveway I see this on my front porch:

Mike told them to “strike a pose” and boom… he gets the above. Hysterical. And being the good husband that he is he took a picture with this cell phone.

I just love these costumes as do the boys. They didn’t want to take them off. We had to leave the house to go to dinner and Benny was begging to keep his costume on. He even said “But Mom, I promise I won’t get any food on it. I promise.” For those that know Benny he rarely goes a meal without getting food on him. I talked him out of it, but now he wants to wear it on his field trip Friday to the Pumpkin Patch with his class. Lovely. I’m probably going to have to talk him out of wearing the costume everyday from now until Halloween. This should be interesting.

We raise them right!

October 5, 2011

I was born a Steelers fan and so were my children! =) The first item I bought when I found out we were having a girl was a cute pink Steelers outfit. Well, Jillian is too small for the complete outfit, so Sunday we dressed her in a white onesie with the bib that came with the outfit and the pink Steeler blanket she got from her Pee Paw Park. Oh how I love seeing pink Steeler stuff on our little girl. We even got her a pink Terrible Towel. We raise them right in this family… die hard Steelers Fans from birth!
