Wing It

May 27, 2011

Last Saturday, after days upon days with rain, it was finally nice outside. Sunny, perfect temp., a mild breeze. This was just the kind of evening for eating dinner on the deck at one of our favorite local restaurants. Mike and I were hungry for wings and they have great ones. Plus, we never took Owen out for wings yet.

First off, we get to the restaurant and order. The boys wanted Hot Dog meals so we OK’d it as a special treat. But, Owen was adamant that he not get french fries. They were not a healthy choice. In stead, he asked for a SALAD! Only my child would pick a salad over fries. Then again it shouldn’t surprise me because when we go to Chik-Fil-A he gets fruit with his nuggets and lately he’s been asking for turkey sandwiches with “salad” on them. =)

Once the wings arrived Owen was anxious to try them and believe it our not, he liked them. He made a mess of himself, but he liked them.

It was a nice family evening out for dinner and we topped it off with a trip to the park. If I get a chance, I will post pics of the boys having a blast at the park for the first time this year.

Celebration & Smiles

May 8, 2011

On Friday, my Grandmother turned 80 years old. To help her celebrate this milestone, and Mother’s Day, myself, my Dad, Mike, the boys, Jenny, Croce and her boys made the trek to Emporium to visit her.

We had such a nice time. It’s been a while since she’s seen the boys and those 4 hooligans really made her smile and laugh. We played ball in the front yard, had a nice lunch at a restaurant in town, then came back to have birthday cake. Gram so got a kick out of hearing the 4 boys sing her Happy Birthday. She also laughed at watching them play together. Those 4 boys are something else when they are together. The best of buds they are.

It was also the last time I’ll probably see my sister before she has her baby, so we took this opportunity to get a belly bump shot just like we did the last time we were prego together.

It was such a wonderful heart felt afternoon. I feel so lucky to be 32 and still have my grandmother around to see my family and my sister’s family grow. The boys enjoyed seeing their Great Grammy too. They gave her lots of kisses and hugs and filled her afternoon with happiness and love. What better way to spend your 80th birthday and Mother’s Day weekend.

As you know, last Thursday is when we found out we’ll be adding in some PINK to our family. Well, the next morning I woke up to this…

Yes – my wonderful amazing husband did this for me. On Thursday night he went to play pick up basketball with some buddies. On his way home, he stopped at the store and got all the this PINK stuff and left me this wonderful surprise for when I woke up on Friday morning (I’m fast asleep by the time he gets home). How sweet! See, the Royal family isn’t the only ones making room for a Princess. So are the Thomas’!

And without further ado… the princess herself making her blog debut… our baby girl.

Green Monsters

May 1, 2011

For as long as I can remember, Owen has loved baseball. He couldn’t wait until he was old enough to actually play on a team. Now at 5 years old, we were able to sign him up for T-ball. He’s a happy camper. Mike is helping to coach the team so that is nice too. I think Owen really enjoys and is proud that Daddy is out on the field with him.

Over the past few weeks it’s been like Seattle in central PA. Rain. Rain. Rain. He had several practices and his first 2 games cancelled, but this past week, the rain held off and he was actually able to get in his first game. He didn’t do to bad. I loved seeing him out there and I almost was brought to tears when his teammates (aka: the Green Monsters) started chanting his name when he went up to bat (I blame the pregnancy hormones).

Benny is very sad he can’t play. He wants to be like Owen and have a T-ball shirt and hat. He was super excited when he got to go in the dugout and put on his brother’s hat and sit with him. He was also ticked off when Owen needed his hat to go back out on the field.

The month of May is full of games. At least twice a week. For the Thomas Family May 2011 = T-ball. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
