Hey Monster!

September 29, 2008

I decided to be brave and try and take pictures on Ben in his Halloween costume tonight when I got home from work.

At first, Owen was so scared for Ben. Owen’s been a little freaked out about Halloween costumes lately. But, as soon as he saw Ben’s head pop in the face of the costume, Owen laughed and said “Silly Ben! He’s a Monster!”. He then proceeded to say “Hey Monster! Hey Monster!” to Ben while I was taking pictures of him. It was really cute!

So without further wait, here is Ben, our silly blue monster!

PS – I wish he would smile. =( Ever since his two bottom teeth came in his tounge is ALWAYS sticking out so he can feel his teeth on his tounge.

Playing Outside

September 28, 2008

On Thursday, Mike and I had the boys and Maxie in the back yard playing before dinner. The weather was great… slightly brisk air to let you know fall is on it’s way! YEAH!!

I was playing with my new camera… here are a few pictures. We even got Owen to sit by Ben. They aren’t smiling, but I’ll take anything I can get to see my 2 boys in the same picture.

Speedy Sipster

September 24, 2008

It took Owen MONTHS, and I mean months to take a sippy cup. It wasn’t until he was almost 1 that he would even entertain the idea of drinking out of anything but a bottle.

Well, we have the exact opposite with Ben. A week or so ago he picked up one of Owen’s and knew exactly what to do with it, but he had no idea how to get the juice out. Fast forward to today…instead of Owen using a normal sippy cup, he was using one of his straw cups. Ben went right over, picked it up, put the straw in his mouth and started sucking away (luckily it was apple juice, not milk). So, I took his bottle, poured his formula into his own straw sippy and he drank the entire thing!! I was stunned.

Once again… this little man is in too much of a hurry to grow up.

Weekend at Grammy & PeePaw’s

September 23, 2008

This past weekend we packed up the boys and Maxie and headed to NJ to visit Grammy & PeePaw Thomas. We had such a nice visit. Saturday, Grammy & PeePaw watched the boys and took them to a local zoo while Mike and I spent the day together for our anniversary. The boys always have so much fun with their grandparents!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend… I would have more of Owen, but he just ran from the camera.

5 Year Anniversary

September 20, 2008

5 years ago today Mike and I said our I Do’s! Can you believe it!

We don’t usually get each other gifts for holidays and special occasions, but I wanted to do something special for him to mark 5 years of wonderful marriage together so I made him a little montage of our journey to now. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Playing

September 14, 2008

When going through the last set of pictures I had taken with my D50, I found these of the boys that I totally forgot about. Owen was in a “I’m going to be nice to my brother today” mood and was playing really nice with Benny and even held him so I could snap a quick picture. WOW!

And this was a day or so after Ben starting sitting up on his own. So cute! Now he plays with his toys, but he gets kind of bored with them and thinks Owen’s are more fun. Yeah, Owen’s not a happy camper when Ben tries to play with his Thomas trains, but he was more than OK to pass down his Leap Frog train to his “baby bruder” as he calls him.

Wonder Pets

September 10, 2008

Recently, Owen has become a HUGE FAN of the Wonder Pets. MiMi (my mom) found him jammies that were Wonder Pets this past weekend and the best part is they had a cape!! O went nuts! He was running around the living room singing the song and telling us he was flying. He’s so entertaining!

Good-bye to a good friend

September 5, 2008

Almost 2 years ago I made a purchase that changed my life forever – my Nikon D50. A dSLR camera the sparked a love for photography that was deep. My D50 and I have been practically connected at the hip ever since and she was a great teacher off all things technical when using a camera. BUT… as I’ve grown to know more about photography, I knew the time to move onto something with more advanced features was coming soon. Well, yesterday my new friend came. My Canon 40D. I wanted to stay in the Nikon family, but they didn’t have a camera with the features I wanted in the price range I was looking to spend, but Canon did.

I was lucky enough to find a buyer for all my Nikon stuff that has the same budding love for photography as I had 2 years ago. She is super excited to be the new owner of my beloved D50 and I know she will enjoy her. For, if it wasn’t for selling all my Nikon equipment as a bundle, I never would have been able to make the leap to the next level.

My new 40D is going to be a great teacher and I can tell I have a lot to learn already. I took some practice shots today to test her out. At first I was frustrated because it’s an entirely new system to grasp, but the more I tinkered, the more I started to fall into the groove. It’s going to take some time to feel as comfortable with this camera as my old one, but I think true love will come quickly!

Here are 2 of pictures I took this afternoon. Owen sleeping, and Ben sitting on the floor. I love the picture of Ben because you can see his 2 front teeth!! =)

7 months

September 1, 2008

Ben’s now the lucky number 7! 7 months old… can you believe it! We thought we’d do the same as we did with Owen and put him in his Ben Roethlisberger onesie to celebrate turning 7 months old AND the start of another Steeler football season! And no… we didn’t name Ben after Big Ben Roethlisberger.

Here’s what’s new with Ben over the past month (some of this is a repeat, but I wanted to recap):

  • He’s sitting up on his own! YEAH!
  • He’s crawling
  • He got his 2 front bottom teeth
  • He’s started to eat puffs and loves them
  • He sat in his booster highchair at a restaurant for the first time and did great!
  • He’s pulling himself up onto his knees.
  • He’s eating like a champ when it comes to baby food. 3-4 jars a day now. Usually two stage 2 and one or two stage 1.
  • He’s become totally attached to the dog. Where she goes, he follows.
  • He’s recovering well from his surgery.

Speaking of his surgery… he went back to the surgeon on Friday for a visit. When they removed the bandage it was more irritated than they like to see so they wanted to see him back sooner than most patients. It’s been healing very well and during the exam they did a test to make sure the “plumbing” is working as it’s suppose to and all is good. He goes back again in 3 weeks.

I’m sure for the rest of the year we will be seeing a lot more changes with our baby, so stay tuned. He’s so much fun and we’re enjoying every moment with him. He’s such a blessing
