Beautiful Benjamin!! How lucky are we to have not one, but TWO absolutley stunning blue-eyed little boys!!

Our Human Sponge

April 29, 2008

The change in Owen over the past few weeks has been UNREAL! He went from being a little boy who would say one or two words at at time and only talk once in a while, to a little boy who has increased his vocabulary by more than double and he won’t shut up (kinda like his mom =) ). He probably knows over 350 words… at least. I swear it’s like a new word every hour.

He’s finally saying family member’s names and his own name (whoo hooo), he knows all his numbers 0-9 (although he gets hung up on 8 once in a while) and he’s even recognizing some alpha characters. His favorite letter is “O” of course. We practice every night in the tub with his foam letters and numbers. He also know all his animals and the sounds they make. It cracks me up when he tries to say “Octopus”.

He no longer wants to sit in his high chair because he tells us he is a “Big Boy” and he wants to sit at the table with mom and dad. Oh – and his new favorite word – “AWESOME!” and his new favorite saying “I Owen” =)!

He now says that cat’s name and will chase him around the house. He even tells Chandler “Get down now!” when he’s on the top of the couch because he knows the cat isn’t suppose to be there. He’ll even say “I get it.” when the dog is barking at the back door to come in.

He has surprised us with knowing all the Thomas the Train character’s names with out us telling him and he knows all the names to his CARS cars too as well as all his Disney favorites.

Owie has also become a neat freak and will clean up his toys when you ask him to and he has no shame telling me when something in the house is “durty” or if his diaper is “Yucky” and “Stinky”.

But by far I think my favorite is when he asks me to “cuggle” on the couch… aka: cuddle.

It’s really like we have a new person in the house. His communication is getting better and better everyday. He is a human sponge and just learning new things all the time. We’re teaching as much as we can and hope he keeps soaking it all in! We LOVE the new Owen. He is so much fun!!

Introducing….

April 27, 2008

Roman! We finally got to meet Roman yesterday. What a little peanut. He made Ben look like a giant. Well, Ben is a big baby but that’s another story. It’s hard to believe that just 12 weeks ago he was this small.

Roman is so dear and has SO MUCH hair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby with this much hair before.

We had a photo shoot of course and here are a few of the pictures. More to come later. I couldn’t decide between color or black and whites so I put a mixture. Isn’t he just precious?!?

Little Boy #4

April 22, 2008

Today our family welcomed it’s 4th little boy. My sister Jenny and her husband Croce had their second son. We are proud to announce our newest nephew:

Roman Martin Maiorana
April 21, 2008 – 5:02 p.m. – 7 lbs. 7 oz. – 19.5 in.

Croce is Sicilian so they want this baby to have an Italian first name. His middle name is after our dad since Alex’s middle name is after Croce’s dad. I love names that have a family meaning.

Lots of pictures to come soon. We are having a photo shoot on Saturday!!

My Kids & I – Week 5

April 21, 2008

This week I was lucky enough to get pictures with both boys!! How exciting!!

We had a great lazy weekend. We cuddled on the couch (picture one) and watched Thomas the Train and we read book after book together in Ben’s nursery (picture 2). It was so wonderful spending such large amounts of quality time with the boys this weekend.

GREAT Baby Toy!!

April 18, 2008

OK – add another baby gear item to my list of favorites… the Fisher Price Kickin Bobbin Gym.

Ben started taking a liking to the toys that spin on his swing and the toys that hang from the bar on his bouncer. My grandmother sent the boys some $$ so we decided to take a trip to Toys R Us to see what they had. I ran across this toy in the baby section and it just looked like something that would be great for Ben now and as he gets older.

Boy was I right. He LOVES it! When he kicks his feet and they hit the ball that hangs in the back, the bear’s head bobs and plays music. He goes to town!!

I like this toy better than those gym/play mats that cost twice as much. The only negative about the Kickin Bobbin Gym is that it can’t be folded so it takes up some floor space, but it’s totally worth it. I highly recommend it for anyone with a 2-3 month old. They can enjoy it now and over the next several months.

Thanks GGM!! Ben is now entertained and really enjoying his first real toy!

OOOHHHH – this is FUN!!

Goodbye

April 15, 2008

As the boys get older we will hit certain milestones and we hit 2 over the past weekend and had to say goodbye to some baby things.

First… we had to say goodbye to all of Ben’s newborn and most of his 0-3 month clothes. He’s grown so much over the past few weeks that they just don’t fit anymore. Mostly in the legs. He’s SO LONG! I can’t believe I’m having to say goodbye to this stuff and pack it away already. I feel like I just got it out! Some of it he never wore. We received so many new clothing items as gifts that he only wore a few of Owen’s old outfits and even then he only wore some the new things once or twice. I’m so torn on what to do with it all. I don’t know whether to keep it in case we have another baby in a few years or give it away in case we’re done. AHHH….I’m so attached to this stuff. I do know that once Ben turns one, I want to have 2 blankets made… one for Owen and one for Ben with swatches of my favorite clothing items from their first year.

The first batch of clothes … the rest is in the laundry. =( It’s all so cute. Too bad he’ll never be that small to wear it again.

Second…Sunday we said BYE BYE CRIB!! Can you believe it!! Owen’s now in a toddler bed! We were going to wait until closer to 3 to move him from his crib to a twin bed (his crib converts to a twin) but he did so well at Grammy & PeePaw Thomas’ house in the toddler bed they had that we decided to give it a whirl. Plus, Alex just moved to a regular bed so Jenny let me borrow his toddler bed frame. We thought this would be an easier transition for Owen, plus save us alot of $$ since we won’t have to buy twin bedding and new accessories. His crib bedding fits the toddler bed and looks pretty darn cute I must say.

His nursery was cute and I was sad to see the room change, but Owen was thrilled with his new room set up. He just played in his room all day. At night he snuggled in his bed while daddy read him stories, but he didn’t want to fall asleep in there. This is nothing new. Over the past 2 months he did the same thing with his crib. Ever since Ben was born he wants to fall asleep in our room b/c that is where Ben is (sleeping in the bassinet). So, we just put him in bed with us, let him fall asleep, then put him in his bed. He slept fine and woke up this morning and got out of bed to look at books. I know it’s bad that he doesn’t have a bed time routine, but this process of him falling asleep in our bed then going to his isn’t that much of an inconvenience and kind of works for us… for now. At least I know it won’t last forever. I doubt a teenager will still want to fall asleep with mom and dad!!! =)

And just for fun… here is a cute picture of Owen at bath time tonight showing off his super cool CARS tattoo of Snot-Rod!

Fantasy Golf is my game!

April 15, 2008

That’s right…. who came in #2 in the country this week for CBS’s Fantasy Golf out of the thousands of people who play… that would be ME!!! See for yourself!

Mike (aka – Kent Korner) started playing at the beginning of the season and I would always pick players too, but not officially play. I did really well so Mike signed me up as Kent Korner’s wife. Every week I played I did really well, but I wasn’t expecting to do as well as I did this week. Too bad I didn’t come in 1st. I would have won $100!

Date Night

April 13, 2008

Friday night was the first time Mike and I were able to go out on a date since we’ve had 2 kids. It was so nice for Mimi and Pop Pop to come over and watch the boys. Reality sunk in though that date night changes after you have kids. Proof of that is when after a really nice dinner at an Italian restaurant, you go to Babies R Us.

But poor Mimi… look what she had to deal with?

Owen usually HATES to be messy, but at dinner he decided to use his ketchup as finger and body paint. Mimi just ran with the punches though and had fun giving Owen a bubble bath to wash off all the ketchup.

Beautiful Day

April 13, 2008

Thursday is was GORGEOUS outside. Mike and my Dad dethached the back yard to get all the dead grass up and without even asking, Owen decided to help. A dream come true for Mike… his little dude helping him in the yard. Too bad 12 years from now he won’t think helping dad in the yard will be fun!

Owen had fun playing in the backyard as usual. He goofed around with his PeePaw Park and he even showed us his true love for mother nature by hugging a tree! =)

Mimi came over to visit too and enjoyed outside time with the boys.

I can tell this is going to be a fun summer with Owen and Ben. Let’s just hope the nice weather continues so we can take advantage of it.
