OMG – boys are GREAT!!

I got a peek into my future today. Alex is spending a few days with us and Owen and him are having a blast. Today I came home from work to find the two boys in superhero costumes playing in the fort Mike made for them in the dining room from all our couch cushions and the Fisher Price House. I busted out laughing! It was just too darn cute.

Alex and Owen are about the same age difference as Owen and Baby T #2 will be. If this is any indication of what my future has in store with two boys in the house, it’s going to be amazing!

And hats off to Mike… Daddy of the Year! He is doing such a great job as a Stay-at-Home-Dad. I think this is truly his calling in life. He’s so good with the kids. He even joined a play group for local stay-at-home-dads that meet at different parks in the area on Tuesdays. He’s such a wonderful Daddy! Owen and Baby T #2 are very lucky little boys.

Mike had a “boys weekend” with Grandpa Park and went to the Penn State game on Saturday and golfing on Sunday. It was a much needed break from all his hard work on Daddy Duty lately. So, with Daddy out of the house, Owen and I spent the weekend with Mimi.

Saturday we went out to breakfast, did a little shopping at the mall where Owen got the CUTEST Steelers sneakers, then we took him to have his 1 1/2 year pictures taken. I had been meaning to do it myself, but with being so sick and tired – literally – I didn’t have the energy to do it so we took him to Portrait Innovations. Here are my favorite 3 poses:

Sunday we spent the day at Mimi & Pop Pop’s house. Owen was all decked out in his Steelers gear for the game. He had alot of fun and played and played all day long. Check out these pictures of him running around having a blast in the back yard. This kid has total Steelers Pride… he bleeds black & gold just like the rest of us. We’re raising him well!

Today I had an ultrasound to check the condition of my placenta previa and we were lucky enough to find out early the gender of our second and last baby.

With 95% certainty, Owen’s going to have a LITTLE BROTHER!!

We thought it was a girl and were slightly hoping it was so we could have one of each, but we are excited for another little boy and THRILLED that he is growing very well – almost 2 weeks ahead of his due date – and that he is healthy. With all the problems I have been having I was worried about the health of #2, but he’s doing great.

Now we have the hard part of picking out a name and figuring out what we are going to do with the nursery.

My condition is actually improving too so it that was a huge relief off my shoulders. I go back on October 11th for another ultrasound. Hopefully the previa will be mostly gone and I’ll get a confirmation on his boy parts! =)

I’m still not gaining much weight. Only a little over a pound since my last visit and I’m still way below my prepregnancy weight. The doctor isn’t concerned at this point so that’s good.

All in all it was a fabulous doctor’s appointment and we’re now very excited to start getting ready for our second little guy. As the only female in the house I’ll get to be queen of the castle!!

Oh – and I started to feel flutters over the past few days and some definite movements tonight. This is my favorite part of being pregnant. I love feeling the baby move!

It’s been several days since I last posted so I thought I’d try to catch you all up on the happenings in our little family.

About 2 weeks ago Owen had his 18 month check up. He’s doing great and of course the doctor loved him. He’s one of her only patients that doesn’t scream and actually enjoys the exam and trip to the pediatrician.

He’s 26 pounds and 34 inches. Not much of a change from last time, but that is expected at this age. He’s in the 90th percentile for height and 50th for weight. He also had his iron checked and he’s finally above normal. He had blood work drawn for his food allergies too but we don’t get the results from that until Sept. 5th. I’ll be shocked if the milk allergy is gone.

My sickness has made a reappearance. How lovely. We went to NJ this weekend to visit Grammy & Grandpa Thomas and it was a rough car ride. But, we had a nice visit. Owen was finally big enough to test out the tri-cycle they bought him before he was even born. He enjoyed it but thought you should push it, not ride it.

The FUNNIEST part of our NJ visit was Sunday morning mass. We were sitting in the pew before church began and after the organist finished her song, Owen started clapping, took his binkie out and yelled “Again! Again!”. We were laughing so hard we were crying. During the next song he started to dance. This kid is quite the character.
